Peekly is an iOS and Android app that sends the photo you take to the home screen widget of the friends you choose. This page explains which data we process and why. Controller: Emre Şahin (contact details below). This is a translation; if it differs from the Turkish version, the Turkish version prevails.
Data we collect
| Data | Why | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Photos and the notes you write | To deliver them to the people you send them to | Only the recipients you choose |
| Replies and emoji reactions | To deliver your reply to a moment's sender | Only the moment's sender and you |
| Profile photo (optional) | So your friends recognize you by your photo instead of a letter; it appears as the round image on message notifications from you | Only your friends |
| Together photo frames | To combine your friend's frame with yours into one moment | Only that friend and you |
| Your display name | To show who a moment is from | Your friends |
| Your account ID (Sign in with Apple or Google) | To recognise your account | Only us |
| Your email address (Sign in with Google only) | To recognise your account when you sign in with Google | Only us |
| Your friend list, invite code and blocked users | To decide who you can send to and who cannot reach you | Each friend sees only themselves |
| Your invite code link (emresahin.app/peekly/CODE) | So someone who opens the link you shared can find you and add you as a friend | Anyone who opens the link sees your name and invite code; your profile photo is not shown |
| Photo invite links | To send a moment to someone who does not have Peekly yet and invite them | Anyone who opens the link sees your name, your invite code and a blurred preview of the photo; only the person who joins through the link sees the photo itself |
| Device notification token and whether a Peekly widget is on your home screen | To notify you of new moments, replies and reactions; to count widget usage in aggregate | Only us |
| Friendship streak, weekly count and chat theme (number of days, the last day you both sent, how many moments you sent each other this week and last week, and the chosen bubble colour and background; no photos or text) | To show how many days in a row the two of you sent each other a moment and how many moments you shared this week; the Sunday evening weekly recap shown only to you; to show your chat in the theme either of you picked | Only that friend and you |
| Rewarded ad records (account ID, transaction number, date) | To credit the extra sends from an ad you watched to the right account exactly once, and to apply the daily ad limit | Only us |
| App version, iOS version and iPhone model; the days you open the app and send a moment (days only, no content) | To see which versions are in use, plan updates and retiring old versions, and track overall usage as aggregate numbers | Only us |
| Subscription status and subscription events (trial, renewal, cancellation, refund and amount) | To unlock Peekly Plus features and track overall subscription numbers | Only us and our subscription provider |
| Report records | To review reported content | Only us |
With Sign in with Apple we do not ask for your email address. With Sign in with Google, the email address Google provides is stored only in our sign-in system (Firebase Authentication), is not shared with anyone and is deleted when you delete your account. We access your photos only when you pick them; we never scan your library. We do not collect location, contacts or health data. When you invite someone from your contacts, only the chosen person's number is placed in your phone's message screen; it never reaches us. When you scan a QR code, the camera image is processed on your phone and is neither stored nor sent. The app language you choose is stored only on your device.
Tracking and ads
Peekly does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use analytics trackers or marketing tools. We do not sell your data.
When your daily sends run out, you can choose to watch an ad to earn extra sends. Ads are shown only when you tap the "Watch an ad" button; Peekly Plus users never see ads. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent abuse, Google processes your IP address, device model and operating system, app information and your interaction with the ad (viewing, tapping). So that the reward reaches the right account, your account ID is passed to Google; Google confirms to our server, with a signed message, that you watched the ad to the end.
On iOS we do not show Apple's tracking permission (ATT) prompt, so Google cannot access your iPhone's advertising identifier (IDFA). On Android the Google Play services advertising ID may be used; you can reset or delete it in your phone's settings. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask for your consent before showing personalised ads; if you decline, only non-personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy options. How Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Peekly Plus and our subscription provider
Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store or Google Play; your payment details never reach us. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status: RevenueCat receives your account ID and the transaction/receipt information generated by the store, and no other personal data. Free Plus days earned through invites are stored on your account as an end date.
Retention
Sent moments, their replies, reactions and together photos are deleted automatically from our servers and storage 24 hours later. You can save a moment to your photo library within that time. Photo invite links and their images are also deleted after 24 hours. The image shown in the widget is kept only on your device and removed when it expires. Report records are kept until the review is finished. App and device versions, usage days and subscription events are kept until you delete your account; when you do, your version info and usage days are deleted and only the amounts of subscription events remain, no longer linked to you. Rewarded ad records are kept until your account is deleted. Streak data and weekly counts (this week and last week only) are kept while you are friends and deleted when you unfriend or block the person or delete your account. Your profile photo is kept until you remove it or delete your account. When you delete your account, your profile and profile photo, friendships, all moments you sent, invite links, images and ad records are permanently removed.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and all its content in the app under Settings → Delete my account. You do not need to write to us. You must cancel a store subscription separately in your App Store or Google Play account.
Infrastructure
Data is stored on Google Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud
Functions, Cloud Messaging) in the europe-west1 (Belgium)
region inside the European Union. Notifications are delivered via the
Apple Push Notification service on iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging on
Android; the text of your reply also passes through these services in
message notifications. Rewarded ads are served through Google AdMob.
Children
Peekly is not intended for users under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and Turkey's KVKK you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your data and to restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below; we reply within 30 days.
Changes
When we update this policy we change the date on this page and announce significant changes in the app.
